Privacy policy

Penny Recon does not require an account and does not collect names or email addresses.

Reports. When you submit a scan report we store the fields you enter, the submission time, and a one-way hash of your IP address used only to detect spam. The hash cannot be reversed to your address.

Hosting. The site is served by Netlify, which keeps standard server logs for a short period as described in their own privacy policy.

Advertising. This site is monetised with Google AdSense. Google is a third-party vendor and uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. Third-party vendors, including Google, may also use cookies to serve ads based on someone's prior visits to this website. Where required, you will be asked for consent before personalised advertising cookies are set, and you can change that choice at any time.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they use. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies and collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. It does not give us your name or contact details. Google's use of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. We also keep our own cookie-free page count: each view records only the page, a coarse traffic source such as the referring site's domain, and a one-way daily hash of your IP address and browser string that cannot be reversed or linked to you on any other day.

Contact form. If you use the contact form, we store your message, the topic, the email address if you choose to give one (only so we can reply), the submission time and the same one-way IP hash used for spam control. Messages are never published.
